Chris Swanton was educated at King’s College, London, where he read German and English. He gained a PhD in German Literature and worked for three years in the English Department of the University of Wuerzburg in Bavaria. Back in the UK, he taught at a comprehensive school before joining the BBC and becoming a film editor. He has more than 60 screen credits to his name and a BAFTA award for the highly successful BBC TV Edge of Darkness and a further nomination for Tumbledown, the acclaimed BBC TV drama about the Falklands War. After leaving the BBC and working freelance, he adapted and made the film version of Franz Kafka’s classic novella Metamorphosis for the screen, which became the official selection for several festivals, including the Montreal International Film Festival, and won awards for best art direction, best visual effects and best film.
